Analysis of Record Label

Donald Glover is an American actor as well as a singer and song writer. After several self-released albums and mixtapes, Glover signed to Glassnote Records in 2011.

The label primarily has a lineup of indie rock and alternative rock artists, most notably Mumford & Sons and Phoenix. The label has also released music from popular artists in other genres, such as Chvrches, Childish Gambino and Secondhand Serenade. The label's music is distributed by Universal Music Group.

It was founded by Chris Blackwell, Graeme Goodall and Leslie Kong in Jamaica in 1959.Blackwell sold the label to PolyGram in 1989. Both Island and another label recently acquired by PolyGram, A&M Records, were both at the time the largest independent record labels in history, with Island in particular having exerted a major influence on the progressive UK music scene in the early 1970s.
Three Island labels exist in the world: Island UK, Island US, and Island Australia, with the main label operating out of London. Notable artists include Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Leona Lewis, U2, Mumford & Sons, Amy Winehouse, Ben Howard, Florence + The Machine, Sigrid, John Newman, Hozier, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Disclosure, Roadman Shaq, AlunaGeorge, Keane, Annie Lennox, JP Cooper, Taylor Swift and PJ Harvey.
