Genre Analysis

For this blog I have been researching into my chosen genre. In my research, I watched 15 music videos based on the indie genre and analyzed the common settings, lighting, props, costumes, stars, narratives and the different camera shots. I also linked the music videos to Andrew Goodwin theory of music videos.

Overall, I found out that the common setting for each music video I watched was solely based outside. This sets the hip hop/ rap theme because of the quirky and old fashioned effect it gives off as well as it being stereotypical to what people do in a day to day life.  Furthermore, i gathered that all the music videos i watched were performance based,as well as some containing narrative performances which was based on love and romance again linking back to the Hip Hop genre.
